What Are Hemostasis And Coagulation?

Hemostasis is the process of completely stopping a flow of blood. When blood is lost through a damaged vessel, it normally coagulates from a liquid to a semi-solid. This process blocks the vessel, preventing more blood loss. Eventually, coagulation can lead to hemostasis, followed by repair of the vessel.
Dental Hemostatic Agents
Occasionally, people are born with genetic coagulation defects. These conditions prevent blood from clotting like normal and potentially lead to excessive blood loss. There are a variety of dental hemostatic agents that assist the coagulation process and stop the flow of blood during dental treatment.
